I was speaking to my mum about my fur coat as it used to belong to my Nanny, but as my grandparents live in Barbados she REALY wouldn’t need the coat lol. I have had it for around 2 years after my mum found it in the loft at home but I have only recently taken advantage of it due to the freezzzing weather!

Recent Buys..

I’ve been looking for a pair of dungarees for AGES! I refuse to pay the stiff prices on the high street with me being a student and such lol, I’ve been hunting on eBay for a pair but I ALWAYS get out bidded which annoys me! So I decided to look on the vintage websites Beyond Retro and Rokit, BR didn’t have any dungarees in stock at all whereas Rokit had sooo many pairs I didn’t know which ones I wanted! Anyway, I finally bought a pair for £22.50, the pairs I was looking at on eBay were going for £30 - £40 this proved to me that eBay isn’t always the best solution for certain things! I’m so happy I cannot wait for them to arrive. I’ve always wanted a bumbag for a while, simply for the fact I’m a raver lol, always try and go to a D&B, House or a Garage event when I can and carrying a bag is hassle when you want to dance all night, also it’s a great way to keep all your belongs safe as it sits on your waist in front of you. I bought this on eBay for £12.51 which is a bargain! If you’re looking for one or know someone who is eBay is the perfect place they have so many on their simple leather ones or some with detail on them like mine. Topshop have two bum bags on their website at the moment if you don’t find any that you like anywhere else!

#rihannaforriverisland

It has been announced that Rihannas River Island collection will be unveiled at London Fashion Week next month on the 16th February. I’m a big fan of Rihanna not just her music but her style and the way she carries her self, I know many people don’t agree with some of her choices in life (Chris Brown) but I always say ‘each to their own’ she must know what she is doing lol. I’m really looking forward to seeing what she brings to RI as she is regarding as a fashion icon, I love the way she can wear a very feminine outfit but then wear something tomboyish with both looks really suiting her. Her collection is released on the 5th March.

Fashion Styling University Work Year 2

The first term of my second year of uni was pretty scary due to the amount of work we had been given, I always look forward to new terms as we begin new units of things that we have never done before. During my first year we had our first styling project which was based on denim, footwear and casual wear, we had to use our creative minds and create a fashion story. This project was what influenced me in making the choice in my future career of becoming a fashion stylist, so I was happy to find out styling was going to be continued into my second year.

My fashion styling project in my second year was based on diversity, things which aren’t seen in fashion magazines. For this project i-D Magazine was the chosen magazine which we were creating all of our work for, including a front cover, fashion spread and an interview page. The page layouts, typography and style of photography all had to match with i-D’s original layouts and such. During seminar sessions my group and I discussed our possible ideas and what we personally felt was diverse, many people had some very good ideas, things such as tattoos, piercings, elderly people, disabilities, scars etc.. I opted for something completely different and I focused on the subject of hair types. I decided to base my project on dreadlocks, my reasons for choosing this is due to the fact there is such a huge stigma towards the hair type as it is seen as dirty, unkept and untidy. As background research I looked at religious reasons to why people grew dreadlocks, researching the hippie movement and what dreadlocks stood for, also looking at the types of clothing dreadlocks are associated with. With these things in mind I wanted to develop a contrast between the element of hair and fashion, by doing so I came up with the idea of dressing my model for my fashion spread in clean cut fashionable clothing photographed in a studio to show the contrast between the two and prove that dreadlocks can work well within a high fashion spread in a magazine. As i-D Magazine is the chosen magazine for this project we also ha to create a front cover for the diversity issue, incorporating all of i-D Magazines trademarks and cover layout.
